Rehab News:Local police forces work to combat underage binge drinking

Parents have been urged to "play their part" in preventing alcohol-related crime by a Scottish police force.

Constable Bob Jeffrey of Tayside police has called for parents to help limit the rising levels of anti-social behaviour fuelled by underage binge drinking in the area of Barnhill by children as young as 12, according to the BBC.

He said that if parents do not "nip this behaviour in the bud ... then they are leaving their children open to being dealt with by the law in its various forms".

In other related news, in an attempt to combat anti-social behaviour as a result of excessive alcohol consumption in Blackpool, police will use alcohol testing strips on the drinks of those under-18.

The strips, which change colour when put in drinks that contain alcohol, will be used by the local force when they face youths who claim they are drinking soft drinks but are suspected to be in possession of alcohol.
