Abbeycare foundation
Abbeycare Foundation is a treatment centre that caters for individuals with alcohol dependence. The centre has single occupancy en-suite bedrooms and clients will have access to a garden and the clinic’s collection of educational resources.
An admission to the Abbeycare Foundation will begin with an assessment. This is an important initial step in the delivery of the appropriate treatment plan as it acts to highlight issues and relevant history regarding the client’s alcohol dependence, allowing the clinic to respond accordingly to maximise the opportunity for effective treatment to be received. Care planning will involve the identification of the client’s treatment goals, the services that the centre will provide to the client, and the member(s) of staff that will guide the client through the individual aspects of their care plan.
Clients will also be assigned a key worker throughout the duration of their treatment. Twice a week a client will meet with their key worker to discuss and review their care plan. The key worker also helps clients establish an ongoing support and recovery plan towards the end of their treatment. This is conducted in order to help clients to maintain commitment to their recovery, to achieve long-term abstinence, and to aid the early detection of a potential relapse.
Types of Treatment Programes abbeycare foundation offers
The treatment programme at the Abbeycare Foundation includes rational emotive behavioural techniques (REBT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT aims to help clients increase their self-awareness and their understanding of the triggers that have resulted in their abuse of alcohol.
The Abbeycare Foundation also implements a 12 step model alongside REBT and CBT. These approaches are used together. The 12 step approach helps people to accept who they are, their battle with alcohol, and the ability to live a happy and fulfilled life once the alcoholism is addressed. Clients will have access to three 12 step or CBT sessions each week, one therapeutic group, and a progress meeting at the beginning of each week.
The Abbeycare Foundation also employs motivational enhancement sessions to help clients address their internal motivation for change. Alternative therapies will also be available, such as massages, reflexology and reiki. Mindfulness will also form an important part of the treatment plan in order to aid relapse prevention.
Clients are also offered post treatment aftercare group sessions. This allows ex-clients to meet, share their experiences and offer support to each other. This can also be attended by clients presently in the treatment centre to help prepare them for life back at home. Clients will also be expected to attend AA meetings whilst at the treatment centre, and will be encouraged to continue with these upon leaving.
