It offers a safe, tranquil environment in which to begin the journey of recovery. The premises are staffed at all times so there is always a housekeeper to offer practical support and to ensure the smooth running of the household.
Types of Treatment Programes Open Minds offers
The daily programme at Open Minds is highly structured and is designed to help individuals recognise and accept the extent of their chemical dependency, and then to develop the skills necessary for their long-term recovery.
Regular individual counselling sessions help the person to identify and overcome any underlying personal issues that could interfere with the recovery process.
The programme includes meditation and relaxation classes, group therapy, one-to-one counseling, weekly care plan review, life skills workshops, videos and lectures specific to substance misuse, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention workshops and therapeutic work activities.
The treatment programme is delivered by a team of qualified and experienced counsellors. In addition to their professional qualifications, most of the therapists have personal experience of addiction and the recovery process. The result is that the counselling provided at Open Minds is not only of a very high quality, it is also delivered with a passion for recovery. The staff members are dedicated to working closely with each individual to offer the insight, information, support and feedback that is required to achieve a happy drug and alcohol-free future.
The client will also be introduced to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. This is their opportunity to meet with people in recovery from all walks of life who are willing to share their own experiences as the person begins their personal journey of recovery. Over time it is hoped that the individual will come to understand how helpful these meetings will be for their ongoing support when they leave treatment.
How long could treatment for drug and alcohol addiction at Open Minds take?
The length of treatment at Open Minds can vary anywhere from one week to twelve weeks and beyond. The length of treatment will depend on the substance involved, the severity of the situation and each individual’s medical and psychological history. In order to make sure that the psychological side of the addiction is thoroughly tackled, the minimum duration of treatment recommended is 28 days for alcohol and six weeks for drugs.
