Clouds House

Clouds House is a treatment centre that aims to rehabilitate people with drug and alcohol addictions.

When accessing inpatient treatment all clients at Clouds House will receive an initial assessment to obtain any medical, social, psychiatric and legal history. Clients will then be paired with another, more senior client in order to help them settle in. The clinic staff team consist of counsellors, doctors, nurses and an in-house chef who can cater for a range of dietary needs.

In order to avoid isolating behaviours, Clouds House offers shared bedrooms to all clients. Clients may share with one, two or three other people. All rooms are equipped with privacy screens for their residents. There are also laundry facilities available at the treatment centre. Clients will be expected to wash their own laundry, although a laundry service is provided for sheets and bedding. The centre also has a ‘Patients Pantry’ which allows clients access to beverages throughout the day and night. An in-house shop is also available for half an hour each weekday. This supplies basic toiletries and an array of healthy snacks.

Types of Treatment Programes Clouds House offers

The treatment offered at Clouds House consists of a structured programme aimed at helping clients learn about themselves in relation to their addiction, their vulnerability to relapse and how they can maintain their recovery.

Throughout the programme, clients can expect to take part in group therapy, and education on addiction is delivered through lectures, workshops, educational videos, one to one relapse prevention counselling, and reading or writing assignments. Workshops will also include creative activities, such as creative writing, art therapy, drumming workshops, drama therapy and theatre workshops. Clients will also be expected to carry out therapeutic duties around the house, such as vacuuming the shared lounge or setting the table at meal times.

Clouds House also provides access to a number of alternative therapies. This includes Indian head massage, tai chi, acupuncture, relaxation, reflexology, yoga, aromatherapy and shiatsu massage. During detox, auricular acupuncture may also be available to clients.

As well as the therapeutic elements of the treatment programme there are also other activities available to clients. These include seasonal sports such as croquet and badminton that can be played during the summer months and table tennis is available throughout the year. Clients also have access to a gym once a week, and can go shopping on the second Saturday of their stay. Clients have access to newspapers, board games, DVDs and recovery literature which is available in the lounge.  A musical participation group also visits the centre once a week.
