Castle Craig

Castle Craig is a residential rehabilitation facility. It was established in 1988 to treat people with drug and alcohol addictions. It also aims to help those with gambling addiction, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, eating disorders and sexual addictions.

Upon arrival, clients will be assessed in terms of their physical and therapeutic needs in order to create a personalised treatment plan. This assessment is also relevant in determining detoxification and prescription needs. The assessment further allows an opportunity for the centre to collect background information about the dependence from family and friends.

Those who are physically dependent to alcohol or drugs will initially undergo a medicated detox. Support from nursing staff and doctors will be available throughout this period.

Whilst completing the detox, therapeutic treatments will gradually be introduced to clients. A daily schedule will involve services such as orientation and mentoring, access to a therapeutic community, lectures and workshops. The centre also focuses on diet and exercise needs.

The staff at the treatment centre comprise a medical director, a consultant psychiatrist, certified addiction therapists, addiction trained nurses and resident doctors. Other specialist staff members include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapists, a clinical psychologist, PTSD counsellors and eating disorder specialists.
